Snap Back After Baby with These Healthy and Safe Tips!
I never imagined that I would be into fitness the way I am now that I’ve become a mom! For me, there was just something about giving birth that made me realize that I am basically a super hero. I recognized what my body was had done - growing and delivering a human into this world - and knew that it could do absolutely anything I trained it to do.
I get asked all the time how I lost the weight so fast after having my daughter. I’m still on my fitness journey and have a long way to go, but I’m loving it and would love to share some tips with you!
Let me begin by saying that as moms, we experience so much pressure to have the bodies we had prior to pregnancy and the term “snap back” is completely overused! Many of us are pushing ourselves too soon after giving birth and too hard in order to achieve bodies that may be unrealistic to get in a certain time frame or
without surgical augmentation.
With some simple lifestyle changes which include diet and gentle exercises, I was able to see significant health and fitness changes very shortly after having my first baby!
On my daughters 11 month birthday, I was actually ten pounds lighter than I was before pregnancy. For me, this was great because it had been my target weight for several years. I never imagined I would reach my goal after having a baby!
My hope is that this post will help you apply a few simple work outs and diet adjustments that will help you achieve your snap back goals healthily and without pressure.
Every body is different so results will vary but what’s most important is that you are healthy both inside and out! Remember to be patient with yourself and enjoy the journey!
Here are a few tips and tricks that helped me snap back after baby!
Breastfeeding - Some argue that this helps lose the baby weight a great deal, while say it doesn’t. I truly believe that breastfeeding is one of the greatest reasons I was able to drop the pounds so swiftly. Breastfeeding will burn hundreds of calories a day when done normally and constantly. I nursed for 13 months. While breastfeeding may require and increase in calorie intake, my next tip will explain why even that doesn’t have to be a hinderance to your weight loss journey!
Choosing a Pescatarian Lifestyle - About 8 months after my daughter was born, I decided to eliminate all meats other than fish and dairy from my diet. I increased the amount of veggies and whole grains I ate and drank water with nearly every meal. I eliminated most sugars including fruit juices (I never do sodas) and ate hardly any fried foods. This made me feel great inside and shaved the access fat right off.
Short Core Workout First Thing in the Morning and Last Thing at Night - Whether it be sit-ups, six inches, side planks, or Russian twists, each day begins and ends with an exercises. It's a great way to subtly begin to introduce working out into your daily life and at the same time begin to see results!
Walking Daily - Tucking baby in the stroller and hitting the mall, a local track, or just the sidewalk outside of your home for a daily walk is an excellent and low key way to incorporate cardio and shed the pounds off smoothly!
